The king of 80’s

August 14th, 2007

I was sitting with Khalidah and we just remembered a Jordanian singer from the 80’s. That man who was singing in front of the Housing Bank Building and singing in loud voice notional and traditional Jordanian songs. We couldn’t remember his name at that moment. But Khalidah promised me that she will dig and look for his name.

Next day she send it to me. His name is Odeh Ziadat.

When you say 80’s, I always remember that singer. And I remember his songs “Mar3yah yal bint Mar3yah” “Shedo yal Nashamah”…

I wonder what happened to him… and what he is doing now. Is he alive?

I think he went back to his old career of being an optician, that’s the last thing I heard of him … although yes, he was really good!

Yeah I kept digging in my brain and on the net and all the time .. I could feel that his name is on the tip of my tongue and indeed it was

He had a really good voice … too bad that good talent does not get encouragement … or maybe that was just in the old days .. I can see lots of good singers these days :)

  4. Jordan Imad Says:

Odeh was the best and most popular singer in Jordan at the time by far and he was deeply loved by all people.
